It's Day Thirteen! Thirteen is an unlucky number, but not for you! Because today your going to make excellent progress! So tell us how well you did today!
696 tonight...although I didn't finish the story I wanted and can't figure out what happened because it didn't go where I expected it to. *bangs head at introspective characters who were just supposed to get drunk and bond*
Good progress! And yes, stories usually do that, they go where you don't think they're going to go. That actually happened in mine, my main character got kidnapped. I'll have to continue tomorrow. I have at most 10K more for it until the story's done. He just has to get out of this kidnapping bind and head back to the city, then the story can end! None of this 100K insanity for Writo de Mayo! There's crazy and there's insane lol. ...Oh, and were you able to contact Rhonda about your prize?
Yeah...my "got out, drink, empathically bond" turned into "go out, drink, get introspective...wait I'm straight I'm gonna do WHAT?!" So apparently I'm going to spend tonight kicking the boys' butts.
Of course I also had a like 10 minute discussion on "where can two essentially straight men touch each other in a bar that is skin to skin when one is pretty much covered in clothes?" Sooo glad a) my friend is also a writer (is actually my mentor) and b) is used to weird questions from me. We settled on hand to hand...although I'm not sure I like that.

They also cancelled Blood ties, I am not a huge fan of vampires but that one had a great love triangle and a very strong female lead character. I am a great fan of cancelled shows though :D

Yeah, me too. Not least because almost everything I watch gets cancelled unless I stop watching it first. I'm cursed that way. (Seen any Night Stalker? They cancelled that one five episodes in, halfway into a two-part episode, and never aired the second part! Thankfully they put out DVDs, but I will never forgive ABC for that fail.)

Was writing on my mobile hence it coming up with a subject, whoops.
Not heard of Night Stalker, I may need to look it up. DVDs are great for allowing people to see the 'finished?' story. I had a peek at your profile and noticed you liked DLM, if you have not already you should check out Wonderfalls (Tim minnear was involved so made sure the story came to a conclusion after his experience with Firefly). And if you like Wonderfalls, Being Erica is really good and does a two season run to completion. Both are light-hearted drama with fantastical elements.

I keep hearing good things about Wonderfalls, I'll have to check it out. And lol, poor Tim Minear, everything he touches gets cancelled (Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Inside, Drive).

You should give it a go, I actually preferred it to DLM. DLM I enjoyed but found it started to move away from it being purely by chance that George became a reaper, as implied in season 1, to it being predestined as implied in season 2 (ability to see gravelings as a child as well as having some sort of magic touch). Also was disappointed with the TV movie too.
Not seen The Inside or Drive, are they worth a watch?
Re: cancelled showslonetreadMay 14 2010, 17:50:42 UTC
Yeah, definitely. The Inside never came out on DVD, but if you can find a way to watch it, you should. Very creepy. I can try and get my copies of the eps up on 4shared, if you'd like.
Drive was nothing great, but it was entertaining. It ran for four episodes before being cancelled (it was Nathan Fillion + Time Minear + Fox, so basically it was doomed from the outset), out of six produced, so it's at least not that much of a time investment. :) Those eps are around online, too (and, again, I have copies).
I know old thread, but I just finally found time to watch Drive. I really enjoyed it and thought that at least it came to the end of the prologue before it was cancelled. I could see it having a lot of potential as was just setting the stage. I could only see one season in it though as you would have had to end the race as the season finale. I could also see that they bring down the organisation only to find 27 years later (tying in with the possible 27 year gap mentioned) that a new race has begun.

My characters are being the same way; I hope they start cooperating soon for both of us! *fingers crossed*
