Brennan's Valentine for Livvy

Feb 10, 2009 23:30

A/N: I imagine that my main character, Brennan, would write this for her twin sister Olivia "Livvy" on Valentine's Day. Livvy died when the girls were both four, and Brennan, now 20, still thinks of her sister often.

Brennan’s Valentine for Livvy
They say love is like a river
Or a butterfly
It’s the air you breathe
It’s the heartbeats that sustain you
No one ever says love is like an ending
And yet that’s what it is.

The ending of being alone
The ending of being strong
Love builds you up,
It holds you up,
With love you can go on.

They say love is like a miracle
Or a song
It’s the place you hide
It’s the place you call home
No one ever says love is saying goodbye
And yet that’s what it is.

Goodbye to having to be strong
Goodbye to having to lie
Love keeps you flying
When you know you should fall down.

Love is everything you never got to say
Love is the fingerprints on the window
That Windex wiped away
Love is your voice, your hand in mine
Love is doing the impossible
It’s possible - it just takes more time.

Love is a memory of all the things you could never forget
Favorites - I still know all of yours
Chocolate milkshakes
“Pink Cadillac” (you knew all the words)
Swings
Magic Markers
And telling secrets late at night
When we were supposed to be asleep.

You are my love, Livvy
I see you in my dreams
I hear your voice
And I know you live
Because you live on in me

You are there in every song
That comes tripping off my lips
There you are in the rising up
There you are in the falling down
You’re every thought that comes to mind
You’re every raindrop’s sound
You’re at the doors and windows
Calling for me to come in

Love is a river, a heartbeat, a butterfly, a song
Love is all of the things that could possibly go wrong
Love is a sticky, sloppy mess
Love makes you cry, it makes you guess
But love never abandons you
It holds you, it sees you through

I will see you again
In that land beyond the sea
I will think of you ‘til then
Will you think of me?
