Okay, here's my flash fiction for WotW, labyrinth :D It's 493 words.
The Curator
The world is a labyrinth filled with collections, is it not? So many things to see. Well, moving along on our left, we have a copy of the human skeleton taken from a science laboratory. I find it fascinating because it shows what we look like on the inside. Notice the skeleton appears to be smiling which contradicts the traditional notion of skeletons looking just mean and evil. I blame horror movies for that. It’s nice to know when you die, you die happy. Ah, yes and right next to our skeleton we have the baby. Now you’re probably wondering, what is the baby wearing?? It’s called a diaper. It’s made of either cloth or paper. Notice the fat belly and the puffy hands and feet. Does this mean the baby will grow up to be one fat human being! Not necessarily, for you see, the baby has what is known as baby fat. That will eventually disappear and the baby will be a lean person, provided the mother takes very good care of it....Oh good question! Is the baby a boy or a girl? Hmmm, well, there is one way to tell, unfortunately, we should move along. It is a nice question up for debate, one that makes art so special. Different people see the objects in different ways. Then we’ll just make a left here, for I do have to show you this particular object, just to warn you...oops, should’ve warned you sooner. Don’t worry, the object is behind the glass and cannot hurt you. This is a female. Oh yes, ha ha, I know that, it’s obvious from the bosom and the dress she’s wearing, but look at how fat she is! That’s what happens when you do not take very good care of your body. It’s quite a shame really. Notice the ripples on her neck and the big football like bulkiness of her calves as she’s seated on chair three. She’s broken the first two. Just by sitting there. Moving down the...oh! Missing a finger, you say? I never noticed that before. Probably just the exhibit growing old. Goodness, I hope you know the way out, because I am getting rather lost in these exhibits. That’s a joke to try and distract you from that missing finger. Goodness you are an observant one, aren’t you? Dried blood behind the ear? Fascinating. I wonder what her story was? Well, I can see you’re a person who really likes mystery, so in that case let’s move to the right corridor. I think you’ll like this next object. Yes, it’s an axe! Clever, aren’t you? Now, this one I can open so we can look at the axe more clearly. I call this exhibit severed head. Let me just get my keys...and a quick turn and voila, la axe! What do you mean you don’t see a severed head? Well, we’ll just have to fix that.
