Iced coffee was disgusting. Bitter, slightly gritty and just wrong tasting. As if someone had brewed coffee in a percolator and let it sit overnight after too much heating.
Hmmm. Perhaps I should try a different recipe, with a different type of coffee. I think the current bag of ground that we have is a little bitter for my taste anyway.

As for the suggestion that I try Camp coffee...well, I do react strongly to it, but only because I have actually drunk chicory "coffee" in the past, and feel that, well, it isn't really coffee... No, that is unfair, I should give it a try, but my inner coffee snob reacts strongly, which is odd, cos, after all, I was happy to brew a swamp in my kitchen.

Liz did ask me what was wrong with making coffee, pouring it over ice and adding milk to taste, and I think she may have a point. That's not really very hard, and I already know it's tasty.

The other thing I am desperate to try is sourdough bread. I haven't yet, because I figure it will make a terrible mess in my kitchen, but I think this weekend is the one.
Lovely Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has a recipe here that is satisfyingly long-winded and descriptive. What are the bets that I create a horrible bacterial mess?

Other recipes on-line involve adding live yogurt to your flour for a good start at sourdough. cabd, as yeast and bacterial expert, what do you think?

Has anyone else made sourdough? Success stories? Horrible failures?

ihavecake as my resident mad foodie, have you done it? (phnaar phnaar)
