Putting order into things at work is both satisfying and oddly terrifying... What if I do it wrong? What if my order isn't the same as their order? What DON't I KNOW? (this last is a less foolish question than the others, because working Fridays and Mondays means I miss out on the majority of what goes on).
The fact that the order I am putting is into the sadly neglected library, and is mostly alphabetizing, archiving and sorting (who the heck could think that Journal of Avian Surgery and Medicine lives with Chelonian Conservation and Biology? Why do we have 6 copies of the Biologist 24:3? What is up with PsittaScene?) doesn't help me chill out about work insecurities.
Rolling the names of the journals around my brain is a welcome relief after only doing techy stuff since I got back. Being able to find very specific, very correct information at the flick of a finger is pleasing. The NUMBER of Journals of Zoology in heaps on the desks, chairs, bookshelves and floor is quite astounding. Ah work, I have sort of missed you.
