APLAUD ME!
For I have written the DIFFICULT Christmas cards. Having been queen of procrastination for some time, I have written the (some of the) lovely long, letter-like cards which I send to beloved (often elderly) people who live in the US of A, or Canadia, or other parts distant.
I had been putting off writing to my favourite person, the lady who got me interested in making things with my hands, a lady who is a role model of mine. She is always intellectually stimulating, with a warm sense of humour, and so encouraging of people making life and things better and more beautiful. Her husband died sometime in the past year, and I heard about it through other friends, so am in the position of wanting to write to her with happy news (brotherwedding, art shows), but also to acknowledge that I know, so she doesn't feel she has to tell me again. As a big emotional coward, I put it off for ages, but have finally sent a long letter, with photos and a lovely card.
There were a number of other sort of "say the right thing" family cards, which I have done, and can now blaze onto the cheery silly ones that I send to people I know overseas.
Had a fantastic time chatting on skype to jinaili and xthlcm on Saturday night. I LOVE that we talked for almost 2 hours and it cost us NOTHING! It was great. So yes, if any of you do skype, I'm at Blaysford and you need to send me an email to tell me when, cos otherwise I don't often hang out by the pc.
I'm jealous of thejasper who is at home in DC for Christmas. I miss being there, I wish I could go and hug curiouserg and see the lovely jennaflower and rahl and all of my DC winter peeps!
I wish to whine about not being on holiday, but actually, work is sort of nice today, and I'm off to the Welsh Mountain Zoo tomorrow, so it's quite good. Would like a holiday though...
