Not Pottermania (well, much, anyway), but ROME.
Why are none of you watching Rome? It is by far and away the best thing on television at the moment. It is full of sexy people, good writing, self-aware plotting, and relatively good historical accuracy (ok, apart from the carrots
cabd). If it were sci-fi, all of my geek friends would be sharing the love with me. As it is, I have to sit in my living room with my knitting, and comment to the work in progress about how amazing Servilia is, about the fact that you DO NOT FUCK with Titus Pullo, and about how much I love the Julii.
I love them so much that I want one of those "my fandom" icons with a group picture of them that says "My fandom has family values". Possibly with a Vorenus family picture on rotation.
This show has everything: strong male friendships (really really good slash potential), strong female alliances (again with the slash potential), beautiful people, hatred, violence, scheming, kingdoms to conquer, men in tunics, sexy ladies in diaphenous garments, nudity, mysterious religion, snarkiness, a cold-eyed bastard or two, cursing at the gods, more plotting, loyalty, beautiful landscapes.
We're almost to the end of series 2, but I never watched all of series 1, so I'm getting it as soon as I'm back from Canada. Is anyone else as into it as I am?
Anyone?
I'll get me coat.
