--I am having a delicious cup of tea with cream and sugar. It's quiet, save the hum of the refrigerator. I have my red fleece blanket (okay, it's not mine, I gave it to Janet as a gift and use it myself... what?). Life is good.
--I mentioned a little ways back that I couldn't get that Pitbull "Calle Ocho (I Know You Want Me)" song out of my head. Lately, though, it's been replaced by that "Hotel Room Service" song... you know, the one that goes "WE AT THE HOTEL, MOTEL, HOLIDAY INN. WE AT THE HOTEL, MOTEL, HOLIDAY INN..." So, I get on my computer to figure out who did that song, cause clearly I have to purchase it. Guess who. Yup. That's right. PITBULL. What the... when did I become a PITBULL FAN?!?!? I KNOW that memo didn't cross my desk.
Weird. Anyway, I'll be buying it later tonight.
WE AT THE HOTEL, MOTEL, HOLIDAY INN... WE AT THE HOTEL, MOTEL...
--Has anyone else noticed the full court press being initiated by the the drug companies in this country? You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a TV or radio spot pimping some miracle pill. Now they're trying to resolve problems... THAT AREN'T PROBLEMS!!! In the car on my way to class this morning I hear "Do you urinate more than a few times a day? Do you even get up in the middle of the night?" Okay, since WHEN is getting up to pee in the middle of the night a serious problem, much less a fixable one? I don't know many people who don't get up to have a slash once or twice. You're sleeping, bladder's filling, kidneys busy... DO THE EFFING MATH!! You wanna pee less in the middle of the night? Try not drinking a case of Budweiser between the hours of 6 and 10 pm. You don't need a pill. You need AA. I mean, seriously, what next? "Are you bothered by frequent breathing? Do you feel like all you ever do is breathe? Well, worry no more!! One little pill taken twice a day will stop all that senseless breathing in as little as two weeks..."
--Yeah. That thing that happened in Maine? You know, the continued bullshit? *sigh* Enough already. E. nough. Al. ready. I don't have time tonight, but tomorrow I may post something borrowed from a friend of a friend... an essay of sorts on why it's no longer okay to idly sit by and watch this happen. It never was. If you care, if you support your family, friends, neighbors, service men and women, fathers, mothers, clergy, EVERYONE who is gay or has someone near and dear to them who is: the time is now. Write your congress people. Volunteer if you can. Vote, always. The simple fact is, we can't do it alone. The nonsense, the ridiculousness... the propaganda that's being spoon-fed to everyone... there are just enough people out there who will believe it. Without your voices, your support, this isn't going to happen. I'm tired of hearing "it's only a matter of time". No, it's not. It's a matter of conviction, it's a matter of standing up for what's right. If you don't, who will?
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak out for me.
