RSOM 8

The more I stare at it, the more my brain thinks that she looks like a cyclops. It could be better, but dangit, I really need to work on other things. >_<

Aaaaaaaaaaaand...

Well, I made it as one the semi-finalists for Tokyopop's Rising Stars of Manga 8 contest with the enty called "The Nightingale's Sorrow". The entry was a product of insomia, constant computer crashes (I wished I had gotten my computer fixed beforehand! I lost a lot of work!!), loads of bitter tears, and... everything that I love - i.e. Waterlilies, my fetish with Asian things (but I'm Asian-American, so it's okay right??? 9_9;), Fallen Moon, and a cheesy romance story. The idea with the vengeful spirit bird and obsessive love is partly based on a personal observation (not experiences) and partly on the Vietnamese folktale "Tam and Cam".

I worked on it 2 weeks before the deadline and it ended up being very rushed in so many places. That big ugly boo-boo on page 16-17 was originally a joined double page in Manga Studio, but stupidly I decided to split it into individual files (because that was the only way I could figure out how to print it centered) but somehow I didn't realize I moved the left image too far left. Uggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!! *pulls hair out* There are so many things I wished I could correct! Particularly with the dialouge and backgrounds. >_<

It was a pretty good learning experience, though I could have done without the stress, nausea and fatigue I was experiencing near the impending deadline. It's highly doubtful that I'll win (the other entries are far more amazing than mine), but... I'm glad I made it this far. It's the farthest I've come, though the dream is still so far away.

And....... my back is really hurting. Little voice in head: It's because you sit with bad posture, dufus! Doh!

finished, fallen moon, rsom
