Thanks so much for sharing this. I just finished the third disk. I wasn't sure how to approach the mc disk, not being able to understand much of what they are saying. I was hoping someone would do some translations. I'm so happy you decided to do this.
I feel really bad for Ryo :( I dont know if its in my head canon or I read it some where, but I thought that they'd always tried to celebrate birthdays together. This makes me kind of sad. Ryo does get really loud and heated about some things some times, but I hope the guys don't get offended or put off by that. I felt a bit anxious when I read the pamphlet translations that they all mention Ryo having a quick mind, but not very much about their bonds with him.
I do admire how Ryo gets really immersed into learning things, playing as hard as he works and investing so much in his hobbies like surfing, reading and foreign films. Ive noticed that his English pronunciation has improved heaps and thought that his singing performance was wonderful this con.
I think he's not naturally talented at most things, heh such as can be seen in the many Honjani episodes and the flaily swimming. I dont think he'd ever be as effortless with the guitar as Yasu, have the stage presence of Subaru, the gain the ability to do amusing adlibs like yokohinabarumaru or look as good dancing as tacchon; but it seems he makes up for it with his wits, hard work and determination. I love how much emotes everything hes singing and the way he seems to enjoy jamming with and instrument and the others so much.
I really hope they are good friends and he doesnt get left out like that all the time. I notice there often isnt that much of Ryo hanging out with the others in concert making ofs and docos. Sometimes Ryo seems so physically clingy to the guys on shows, I wonder if its because he feels left out otherwise. I hope Ryo will get another unit song soon. I'd looove to see a ryoyoko colab.
Nope, it's not your head canon - it's reality! They typically do celebrate each other's birthdays together and when I post the Niigata MC, you'll get to read about Ryo's birthday. As for Ryo... haha, like I said before, I really don't know what he can do to be invited out more.
I adore Ryo on so many levels and you're right; because he isn't naturally good at many things, his hard work always pays off. Subaru's even said it before, but Ryo is totally the thinking type. He'll consider everything before attempting it and that makes him really intelligent, but also really reserved. I know what you mean about his singing, but I don't necessarily agree because he thinks a lot about how his voice should come out and he almost never sings straight from the heart like Subaru. In terms of playing instruments, I think he just goes with the flow there, so that's good.
Ryo is physically clingy, but a lot of it has to do with the fact that he's the youngest son in his family and he was constantly doted on in his early years as a junior, so he's very used to having people tend to him. Also, the people who've spoiled him (the ossans) are really used to it, so it comes naturally to them and they never tell him, "Quit being so clingy!" But he's also lonely, so that's another factor.
