[edit Oct. 12, 05: I'm going try out friends-only and see what happens. More and more of my posts nowadays are friends only so I might as well just start doing them all that way.]
[edit 2009: Now that things have died down (i.e. El Jay is suffering heat death if anyone hasn't noticed... There are random single-entry spammers everywhere and that's a surefire sign of site decay) I won't have to make all that many locked posts any more.]
[edit June 2011: Going back to friends-only again since I'm paranoid about perhaps people I know IRL reading this, i.e. the same reason I don't have a real Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn account. Exposing yourself like that is a BAD IDEA. Sooner or later you'll know why I'm right about this. Don't let your real name hang out there, anywhere. Consider not even having photos out because sooner or later there will be web searches everywhere that can do face matching by crawling into sites with or without anyone's permission http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_18292791 Don't count on sites like Facebook to protect your privacy because there are web apps out there now that could access Facebook data without logging in]
