I didn't think that I'd be able to do a LOT with my fund-raising project, but it's been 3 days and I've made about 5535.88 JPY (around $68 USD) to donate to the Japanese Red Cross. Booyah :)
Basically, I've been folding paper cranes with regular printing paper, and then painting the cranes with acrylics. Then I just sit at a table at in my university's café with my little cranes and my sign and let the goodwill of people go crazy @.@
The cranes don't have a price-tag, I'm willing to take donations of 1¢. But usually, people empty out ALL their change from their wallets (like this sweet lady from the Starbucks, she literally dumped her coin purse's contents into my donation bag). Some people give me dollar bills. Two people gave me $10 bills.
One lady gave me, and I almost cried from joy, a $20 bill.
I hope to keep making more- I plan to donate this and next week's donations at once, and so hopefully the word is being spread, and people will be willing to pitch in a little.
I'm just so happy this is working. I hope that our contributions will be of some help to Japan.
awesomesauce,
fuck yeah,
