Alternator

May 12, 2010 13:50

Last night, the car kinda died again.

Its acting like the alternator is toast - the battery is dead, like, deaddead. And driving around & running the engine didn't help - if anything, it made things worse.

This morning I got a ride to work from my neighbor & one of my coworkers tried to help jumpstart my car... no dice.

Not even a "whirr" from the starter. And the cables DID spark slightly when I connected the ground, so there definitely was current flowing.

Right now i'm waiting for the tow truck to arrive... they're going to take it back to Clutch Masters to have them make sure they didn't manage to disconnect something.

Good part in all this craziness is that my warranty *DOES* cover the alternator, if it picked yesterday to die on me. Which means the repair will be paid for, AND the towing charges...

...If the trouble was caused by something Clutch Masters did in the process of replacing my transmission, then they'll fix it for free but I think i'll still be stuck with the towing charges.

I think i'm more upset by this than I was by the transmission issue. Possibly because we're entering week 2 of car troubles. Oh, and I woke up at 7:30 this morning for no apparent reason & couldn't go back to sleep, even though I knew I should.

So. Next step: Call State Farm & have the roadside assistance added to my account, since it seems like i'm entering a phase of needing it.

Makes me wonder, though... is mercury retrograde or something?
