My fannish life cycle
1: Discover something awesome
2: Voraciously look up anything and everything related to it starting with images, then fics
3: Decide through fanon more than canon what my favorite pairings are
4: Voraciously read everything involving those pairings
5: Learn all of the tropes associated with the fandom
6: Pick out the tropes I do like and am disappointed with the lack of fic addressing them
7: Become obsessed with the tropes and try to find them in ANY pairing/fandom
8: Make up my own characters based on the characterization present in the tropes
9: Write aborted little original works utilizing extremely specific aspects of those fandom tropes
10: Realize, at some point, that my brain has completely diverged from my original fandom
11: Backpedal mindlessly and read more fic, this time trying to avoid those tropes that originally fascinated me
12: Get over it and accept my fall from fandom grace
13: Repeat
