"Mayan sages say in the old stories that four great masters were appointed at the start of humanity to educate those who survived the great cataclysm that destroyed the continent...The first master, known as Naga Maya, went to India...
'Naga' in Sanskrit means 'snake', an important symbol in Indian culture. A chapter in the ancient Vedic chants known as Viveparitah Karani says: "When we were nomads and wandered through the Indo Valley, the Naga Maya's came from across the sea in their celestial cars of fire called Vimana that flew through the air. They taught us agriculture, social organization, and construction (architecture) as well as mathematics and the mysteries of the heavens (astronomy). They built their houses with 9 platforms (step pyramids) in order to worship the Sun, and left us the measurement of time. When their work was done, they left on their Vimanas." - Carlos Barrios
...Also today in the Aztek calendar, Tonalamatl, which records the passing of the days of the sun, is the snake, Koatl. It is the energy of the serpent representing our knowledge and wisdom, our senses and associated with the twins and the earth. In Kaqchikel, it is known as Kan. It is the energy of the inner fire (kundalini).
