I've been watching a series called Yakitate!! Japan and things are really starting to get interesting, with one story having ended (the Newcomers' Battle) and another about to begin (the Monaco Cup).

i just discovered my rice cooker will automatically go into Keep Warm mode when there's no water left.. so much for Rice Cooker bread!

i'm making french and plain bread (= almost at the baking stage! my brother's making sweet bread lol our mum has complained about us taking over the kitchen XD

hmm i have some eps of YJ on a disc that gloom gave me somewhere. i think i watched the opening titles last time and got weirded out so i didn't watch anymore, but i should give it enough go. ^^ good luck with your bread making!

Er... what's the difference between regular flour and "bread flour"?

hm.. the primary difference is protein content - bread (or bakers) flour has more than regular flour. the high protein content helps gluten form, and helps the dough rise. the amount of gluten is important because it influences the shape and texture of baked bread. bakers flour is often used when making pizzas

When I was reading the manga (haven't gotten around to the anime yet ^^;;) I had the urge to eat bread and make it as well. That weekend, I ran out to Baker's Delight 3-4 times. T___T

I've never understood the Japanese fascination with bread. And they do weird things to it, too. "Curry bread"? "Apple bread"? I'm not talkin' just putting stuff on top, either.

Scratch that; it's not just bread. A lot of people consider France the most culinarily (is that a word?) obsessed nation, but no Frenchman would ever have thought up Iron Chef.

I love the "Ja-pan" pun though. Always been a sucker for awful puns, espicially bilingual ones.
