I very much liked the description of the body language throughout the first part of this, Spike fiddling with the lighter, Spike and Dawn sitting on the floor, Buffy with arms folded, Buffy toe tapping, the image of Willow sent to the high backed chair.
Sins of omission, eh? Good luck to Spike on getting away with that one. Jane

Ummm. It's never good to lie to General Buffy. Of course, those two: Dawn and Spike? peas in the pod, really; peas in the pod.

Good stuff, as always. Always like how you handle the sub-text.

Angel had been here, large and in charge As good a description of He Who Is My Muse as any. I know that Blood Angel is a bastard and an asshole but I would still like to see the baby Connor brought back to him. Very neat intro to this chapter---advancement of all elements, as quick as a company of soldiers going into attack: Dawn and Spike, their subterfuges and lying; Willow and her part in it; Buffy and Spike and hitting as foreplay; and the canon of the Other Show.

I'm loving this story as I've loved all your others. I think your perspective of vampires is unique in the fandom. They are truly alien not simply humans with fangs and bumpy foreheads.
I foresee a mission to rescue baby (now little boy? teenager?) Connor and maybe even Rayne. One tiny little quibble--I believe in canon it's Quortoth with an o not an a. Of course your Connor and ER could've been taken to Quar'toth a sister dimension to the one in canon.
Anyway, however it's spelt, I'm looking forawrd to more of this new endeavor.

Thanks for your comment. I was transcribing the word aurally, never having seen it spelled. Where does the apostrophe canonically fall?

Quor'toth is correct.

Loving this, by the way.

Hee!
"Nobody much wanted to argue with General Buffy when she had her rant on."
Loved that line!

But, hmmm--foreshadowing, much? I confess, I've kinda missed Angel "large and in charge" and hope he's coming back. He's an essential part of the whole continuity-of-vampires thing and it would be nice to have him around and watch him and Mike and Spike dance around each other again.

It's gonna happen. Just not for awhile yet.
