Sorry for not updating yesterday, but I didn't really do much because jetlag finally caught up with me and I was out like a light. Dead tired. >_>
One place I wanted to make sure I could find in Japan was a Book-Off, where they sell used J-pop CDs at bargain prices. The Book-off website said that there were not one, but TWO stores near Namba Station, which is not too far from where I live. I can walk there, so to save a few yen, I did. I ended up getting a little lost in some more Japanese style alley-way shopping centers. But not too lost, and I quickly found my way back to where I needed to be. I took some pics along the way. I have no idea what the names of these places are, BTW! (Oh, and that Book-Off I was trying to find? Turns out if I had turned my head LEFT instead of RIGHT at a certain corner, I would've seen that I was like two steps away from it!) Down one of these alley shopping centers was yet another GIANT CRAB. Apparently this is a "sign of Osaka" or so I read in some guide book, but do they really need that many giant crabs?
Below is Namba "Park" which is not really a park but, of course, a shopping center. As if there are not enough places to shop in Osaka, they had to go build YET ANOTHER mall. I have never seen so many shops and restaurants in my life before coming to Japan. They are EVERYWHERE, down every hole in the wall alley and everything. Its amazing that there are so many of them still in business, since there's so much competition for the same customers!
In this picture, I think the stairs led to the only green park of this "park" but it was roped off so I didn't go up there.
After that, I was tired and went back to my room and fell asleep. I was supposed to meet the apartment guy at 3pm to give him some $$ for insurance but after 2 hours he never showed, so I decided to go out again. By day three without a pillow, I was desperate to find one. Of course, I have no idea where to find one in Japan since they don't have stores like Wal-mart or Target. I did some googling and found some place that sounded promising, like they might have a pillow! It's called Don Quijote. LMAO. Anyway, it's located near Namba Station, which is not too far from where I'm staying by foot, so I just decided to walk there. It turns out that I had NO IDEA where I was going!
This time I got seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY lost to the point where I was getting a little panicked and desperately trying to think of any Japanese that would help me. Luckily, I finally ran into this giant radio tower that I remembered seeing off in the distance earlier when I actually knew where I was. So I turned around and walked in the opposite direction of that radio tower along a main street and not too long after that, I started seeing advertisements for Namba Park! So then I just followed the advertisements and bam, I was right back at where I started. Never found the Don Quijote. : ( I really need a pillow!
