I was sitting down there by the stream, and finalized my idea of making a little shelter down there where I can sit and watch the water. At first, I wanted it to be like the A-frame at sedge Meadow Tipi settlement
But now I decided to use the tall Elders that I have cut off in my work along the stream.
We have four pathways from fiddlehead Lane to the stream. There is also a pathway that follows the stream along.
Alders grow up all around between fiddlehead Lane and the Stream. I’m not sure how wide the area is, maybe 50 m?
When I was cutting Elders to make the pathway , there were a lot of very tall ones near the junction of serenity pond, and the Stream.
Today I finished painting in the trenches on a sign which now says Causeway. I put that one up on some Elders beside the Causeway bridge. The whole sign says Causeway over there is nice
William came down and helped me. We dragged Elders to a site that had no ostrich ferns under the elders. I cleared out all the sticks this afternoon and then Willem helped me drag branches and set them in place.
I tied some three together for the tripod. I needed Willem to help me erect the tripod, or else it would be difficult , like it usually is.
It was so helpful that he could hold up the centre where the three were lash together as I pushed the butt of one heading to the stream upward.
It turned out to be quite a curved older once we got it up. There are a lot of older tops over the area, so the polls didn’t make it into place very easily.
So now we have a dozen or more poles in place and a rope around them all.
We had to take a lot of breaks while we were working. This morning I was down there, moving the little sticks and bits from the pathway along the stream so that it would be easier to walk and to drag those branches.
My plan now is to use Tall Willow and leave it around the base of the Tipi and work my way upward. When I get high enough for the first layer of grass, I’ll put that on first. Then I will add more Willow and put the second layer up. It will probably take four layers to get it all done.
We’re going to use the grass on the other side of the stream. There are some big wide tree trunks crossing the stream. I will enjoy using that grass and opening that field up a bit.
