Planting our garden Day 12 service mission

Willem planted potatoes across the valley in his beds, especially the one that he had just taken apart and rebuilt, meanwhile, I planted peas, carrots, and found a whole bed of volunteer lettuce, and another bed of volunteer brussels sprouts.
Alida will be able to harvest the peas and feed them to our children. They will love that. I used seed tape for the carrots, so that I won’t have to worry about weeding so many of them out.
We thought we had district conference today, so we drove to town. While Willem was in the grocery store there was a huge storm.
I was in the car playing my violin.
The power was out and trees were broken off all along the route to Kingston.
We went to eat out at Arby’s, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. What a nice date. We sat there. They gave me eight pieces of lettuce which I used to wrap up the meat in.
There was no meeting, so we returned home, passing more broken trees and branches. At home, a big maple from the bottom of the hill headphone on the wires. It was smoking at the root, they couldn’t do anything until Hydro came and turned off the power.
Later someone came to the house to tell us it was on fire. We went down to look at it. It looked like a few orange and a white lightbulb, huge bright ones.
The fire was pretty well contained to a metre long section between the two wires that created the circuit.
We called the fire department and they came for the third time. Hydro came eventually, but not until after the fire turned the power off at the house.
Willem was sorting out flashlights and things, but I just thought we should go to bed when it got dark around nine. That worked well for me!
It has been so hot today, 30 Celsius. It has dropped down to about 15 now, but there were so many bugs outside that I didn’t dare open the windows.
I didn’t realize that there was a screen on our bedroom window. That would’ve saved me a lot of discomfort.
I no longer use my CPAP machine as the mask has a split in the film.
I couldn’t charge my phone, of course.
