I went down with my Walker and had a safe walk to and around the moat.
I was sitting by the flooded iceberg pond when I saw Willem off in the distance walking into Fiddlehead Lane.
Can you believe how much water is above the pond edge! Even before the waterfall flows!
There's Willem going to check on where the moat is flooded above the edge of the moat road.
The moat was so awesome! Water was above the ice. I imagined skiing cross country on it one day!
I love this area so much! For 20 years it was very hard to access this entire meadow of tall grasses and alders and Willow bushes. Now it is the source of so much goodness for my spirit and my body.
As I sit in the chair and observe the hills I see so many more details as I put together my memories of exploring these hills with the view. Interesting to see the rock monoliths are cliffs on the west side but sloped like a gentle ramp on the other side.
The garden in front of the cabin is flooding as the snow melts. The bags of leaves should have been opened so they can fill with water to break down the leaves.
One of only a very few willow or alder bushes on the island.
Teardrop junction. Where the road splits to go around the moat. 30' wide at this point.
Willem pulled the front of my Walker as I walked with him from Iceberg Pond to Fiddlehead pond. It helps so much.
The moat road is so soggy and soft we really need to wait to its frozen to walk it much.
Willem had brought his car down to pick me up. He moved it to the turnaround at the lower entrance. Together we walked on the shoulder and the road to the bridge. It was a lovely walk.
I was losing the light so most of the photos didn't turn out.
The chairs on the brdge are almost completely buried in snow.
I sat on my Walker to look st the stream and to hear the lovely babble of the brook.
