I did it! I pulled it off! We had everything we needed and it was all cooked just right!
Ben's family, Alida's family, Daniel and Abe were here for the day. Willem picked up Abe and stopped to borrow the table from the chapel.
I put the turkey in at six this morning, then was at the grocery store by seven when it opened. I needed aluminum foil and while there I also bought some sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots, salad fixin's, peas, broccoli, a rhubarb strawberry pie, ice cream and some little waffle cone bowls.
I had it all working on the stove so things were ready ahead of time and nothing was overcooked! It was an awesome meal!
I moved all the tools out of the way in the new entrance room and we set up the long table in there. It was the perfect setup! We had all the chairs from the chapel they'd given away, so were able to set up the whole table in there.
Willem and Abe brought the table in for us. I didn't have one long tablecloth to use, so put together three of them. I'll have to see what I can do about that for future gatherings!
Daniel set the table silverware for me and I used the underplates under Maryjane's aunt's lovely plates.
Ben's family and Daniel came near noon and hung out with us up in the new room. It was a cool rainy morning, so the new room with its holes along side the french doors and the sliding glass doors was chilly.
The rain stopped and the sun came out in the afternoon. Alida and her family came when Desmond woke up from his nap. Desmond was quite confused by the big deck and new room attached to Grandma's kitchen.
Everyone liked being outside on the deck.
We called Scarlett on FaceTime. Ben took her for a tour of the new additions to the house.
Later we all went down to the moat and sat by Iceberg pond in Tisch's swing.
