We had a very good day today. This morning early, we went down to the stream. We had our scriptures and we studied, and talked, and appreciated the beauty around us.
We came back up to the house, and we checked out the fabric that I had made on the loom over the past couple of years. I guess it takes me a long time to do a piece of fabric. I sewed edges on them and then cut them apart. We washed them.
They came out really nice. They didn't shrink as much as I thought they would have. I'm going to make a little iPod neck holding bag out of the blue strip. It's a very nice pattern. I like that pattern so much, I think I am going to rethread the downstairs loom, so that I can make a lot of those tea towels, the Birdseye pattern. I really like Birdseye.
Mary and I also worked on weeding the bed beside the woodshed. We are going to plant Gladiolus there, where they will get some balance from the back of the house. I mean the side. Protection.
We also planted the petunia plant and the rosebush that I had been given for Mother's Day.
We worked on the canopy for the swing which I got from the dump the other day. We have been weaving the top with green plastic straps, the ones you get from the lumberyard.
Yesterday I had bought a new cultivator rake. I used that to pull the straps together to the center, while Mary used a one claw hammer to pull them from the other side. She brought another bag of straps around from the other side of the house. Neither of us had enough energy to stand up and work on that. I guess we spend a lot of energy doing other things.
I cleared off the island in the kitchen, and brought each of the tiles that Mary and I had painted. I lined them up to see how much we needed to do and also to see how much we had already painted.
I had bought some more tiles last week at Home Depot on our way back from the temple on Saturday. Those tiles were 3" x 24", or no, 3 x 12. They didn't fit with these other ones. Maybe I will try to exchange them or take these back in Canada and go get new ones in the US when I take Mary home someday in the far future.
I remembered to call mom today. I have missed a few days phoning her. Yesterday I did finally phoned to talk to her. Mary spoke to her as well.
We faced time do with Virginia today. I was cutting the fabrics apart when I called her. It was so nice to see her, with her pet duck Jimmy, and her chickens. I even saw her rabbit. We had a nice lunch with her. Mary made omelettes and put avocado on top, and feta cheese chunks inside. It was very good.
I was able to show Mary around my perennial garden. I haven't done that. It was good to see on my new flowers growing. I have a lot of reading to do it each of the beds. Hopefully, this cultivator tool will make it much more easy to do.
