Bobbin lacemaking

I have finally gotten some more bobbins threaded and have been busy making some lace. I am doing a round torcheon ground piece, or at least I think that's what it is.

You know what I'd like to make? stretchy lace for the ends of my gauntlets! Now wouldn't that be lovely! I guess I'd have to find a pattern, or make one up. I wonder if I could just pin a piece of lace to the pillow and then work on it as if it were the pattern! What a cool idea!

I have a book of lace patterns. Perhaps there is something in there that would work for me. I'd need some stretchy thread. I could do this! Well, first I'm working on this piece on the pillow. I would like to make it on one of those pillows that has a rolling part on it where the lace winds around it.

Looks like they are $89 new at the spot in Ithaca. Humph. Maybe I can make one. Just use a paint roller and put tons of fleece around it and felt it till it's hard. Then put a pillow over and under the handle. Easy peasy. I'd rather buy one.
