morning pages by the pond

I am sitting on the dock at the end of the pond. I have written a page, but decided to save it and copy it to a document so I don't lose it.

The mosquitoes are trying hard to bite me. They are succeeding somewhat, too.

I discovered yesterday morning when I was down taking the baffle fabric off the post, that the willow on there are enormously tall!

That is definitely the place to plant more of them! Along the edge of the alders!

I have not done anymore daylily planting or transplanting since a couple of weeks ago. They are all planted now, all 120 clumps have been divided up and planted here and there and everywhere around the gardens by the house. I have not yet planted them in the one place where I see them best from my chair beside the bedroom window. I need to put some soil on that area where it is only sand beside the lane side hammock.

I like working on the chairs on the new little deck. I guess it's 4'X10'. I like it so much and spend a lot of time out there.

Oh this morning I discovered a red squirrel on the kitchen roof again. Then I heard a noise on the bedroom ceiling. The squirrel was on the steel roof, lost his footing and tumbled down and off the roof outside our window beside the bird feeder! They are so industrious! I opened the window and saw him running away from his landing spot. Squirrels do a lot of aerobics in the trees, so this fall was nothing much for him!

I love our fixed up house! I love the new windows. They are so much better than the ones that were there before! Watching winter will be great!

The light outside has become so much dimmer than it used to be, as the sun doesn't rise as high in the sky anymore and takes much longer to rise and to set. It always looks like there is a hazy sky now. So in our bedroom the light is dimmer than before. I need to install more lighting.

I am almost ready to paint our room, too. I want a white ceiling and yellow walls. I guess the mudding has to be gone over again and smoothed. Perhaps I can do that on the next rainy day.

I just love to be out here at the pond. I think it will always look like it does today, but it has changed even in the past few days. The leaves on the tallest trees have fallen off now. Yellow leaves are fewer, but still dappled on the scene. The sumac has lost its brightness and looks more burned, or burning. The cattails are changing from green to yellow and looking amazing!

It's so slow, but we are making progress with the yard, all the mess that is out there. I need someone with a trailer to come and take away all the wood. Perhaps I could advertise free cedar planks. Perhaps someone who makes maple syrup would be interested in coming over and taking it away.

I would like to make some interesting cedar post designs, though. There's a girl who has them in her yard. I should go look at them, or perhaps just google them on pinterest.

You know, when John was building his rock sculptures, they would collapse under the weight of the top new stone. I have had that happen to me, but had not imagined it happened to him. You have to be quite strong to do this. Those are heavy rocks that he works with! Such lovely people he builds, too.

I see that the seeds on top of this sedge grass is sprouting. Interesting. I hope the purple loosestrife doesn't take over the entire pond. I like it the way it is with these cattails. However the cattails are still quite short, only a couple feet above the water. They will be much taller next year as this is their first year around the pond. I'd like to have rushes growing in here.

I am curious about getting my loom upstairs. I may have to take it apart. I'd rather not, though. I am not sure if it will fit upstairs. I'm not sure if I should even move it up there. I do like the window in there, though. I may have both looms with just the bench in-between them.
