A quiet day with Mom

May 29, 2014 23:32

Noon: I made Mom an egg, a slice of meat and a biscuit for breakfast. She ate the egg, half the meat slice and a bite of the biscuit. It is definitely better for her if she goes out to eat, she barely eats anything on the couch!

She thought I was mad at her because of the look on my face while I was making her food. I think I was contemplating problems with the kids. Oops.

I asked if she'd mind if I went to the chiropractor's. She was glad to have me do that, went to the washroom, then headed up the hill with her walker.

I abandoned the chiro idea and went to sit with her up there. I took up the hedge trimmer and cut the foliage around the mailbox so she can get through with her little cart.

The mailman came while we were there. Jen P. sent me a box of quilting pieces, many of which are for a baby boy! Now I'm excited to try to make a quilt for Desmond! So excited!

Also a book by president monsoon Consider your blessings and a book about tatting jewelry came in the mail.

It was 30 up there at the swing, even though it was cloudy outside. There was thunder rolling in the distance. I brought the big square fan up and used the extension cord that was up there to plug it in. Mom marvelled at it. It was the first time there had ever been a fan up there!

Walter came up with Sally the dog and sat and talked with us for awhile. That was nice! I gave him the lightning bug I found in my car when I left Ontario to come down to Georgia.

He told us about the Museum of Natural History on campus. I'd like to go over there sometime, maybe with Abe.

We sat up there for a long time, from 4 till about 7pm. I read and highlighted in my Energy book and Mom read the newspaper.

It's harder for Mom to get down the driveway than it used to be. She was crying when she got to the couch. She was also distressed this morning when she came down the stairs and arrived at the couch. I'm so glad the stairlift is coming soon.

She didn't want anything to eat; she just needed to recover from coming down the hill. She had an Ensure Plus this morning, an egg for breakfast, another Ensure Plus up on the swing, a glass of carrot juice, some orange juice and some almond milk and coffee today. Not so much.

We sat and looked at pictures on the facebook pages of all of our kids. I think we went to bed around 9.
