I'm in the glass teepee having a campfire. It's cold outside, but the sun feels wonderful in the teepee. I see where one of the windows broke and is missing. I need to fix it to make the suction from the hole at the top of the tipi work properly.
I love being in here relaxing with a cmapifre. I love the shound of the bamboo chims as the smoke rises and stirrs them about. Perhaps it is the missing window that is making that happen.
The toes of my boots are steaming from the closenss of the campfire.
I need to do a lot of journaling. I have been up to many things.
This morning I threw six bowls on the wheel. They are doing so nicely! I have really learned the key piece of knowledg, in that you need to bring the clay up from the bottom. I guess it is self evident, but it had eluded me! I used three measuring tools and checked each bowl as I was throwing them to make them all the same. So nice when it's working correctly!
I am not sure how long it took me to throw each of them, but it ws very nice for me to work in there. I have more of my area set up for pottery now. The soap has moved to the last cupboard in the kitchen by the freezer, so now the corner is good for me for pottery in there.
I hav several more packages of clay ready for throwing. Perhaps I'll do that in a little while. I am so thrilled with my success! Joanne always measures as she throws to make sure everything is the size she wants it to be. Good plan! I'm amazed at how well they turned out. I had a little disaster when one got too thin in one spot on the side and then collasped the top half. I peeled it off, wedged it on a dry washcloth and then added it back to the rest of the clay and wedged it all together.
It was so nice working in the warm sunshine!
