Windmill tour
Sept. 29, 2012
Saturday 10 am
We went to the Vlardingen windmill to have the last Saturday of the month tour. It was incredible. I took many videos. We went up the severn flights of stairs. We watched them open out and hook the sails on the wings, release the brake and let the windmill fly. It was incredible how they rotated the windmill around before doing any of that so it would be into the wind.
The windmill blew so fast in the gusts of wind, that the blades or sails came whipping around at speeds up to 120kph! The man who wore the wooden shoes was very interesting. He explained to us all about the way the mill works and how ti grinds the wheat and how the brake works, etc. Very interesting. Used up two cameras of battery to film it all.
