Thursday soap molds, planting geraniums in windowboxes, oma

I had stayed up a bit late, so didn't get up before 7. I did some uploading, getting lots of videos uploaded throughout the day. I'm catching up with them, I'm at May 3rd now, I think.

I needed to get my soap molds all ready for use. They didn't have liners that fit high enough up the sides, nor did they have liner ends that fit. Some of them had caked on soap.

So I brought them all out to the porch, along with my camera and tripod. I took them one at a time and used a long white piece of corrugated plastic which I used for making the liners.

I made them right up to the top of the sides. It was great to see that I had ten good lined molds by the time I was done! I even wrote numbers on the sides of them so I wouldn't get the pieces all mixed up, since they aren't interchangeable.

Oma got up and sat in the sunsine on the porch while I worked at cutting them. She didn't understand what I was doing it all for.

Afterwards, I needed straps to put under each liner for easy pulling them out. I have been gathering the straps for a long tiem, so had a big clear plastic bag of them.

I put it up on the table and sorted them. Very long ones went over the top rail of the porch wall. Medium ones, about a meter long or so, went over the railing. Short ones stayed on the table and went under the liners in the boxes.

It took a long time of standing there reaching up to hang the long ones up.

Afterwards I moved them all off the porch to the ground and washed them out, letting the soap soak off. The marker came off most of the liners, some of the boxes and some of the straps. oh well. Good soap, I guess!

Meanwhile, Oma worked on the window boes. She said we should remove the soil, line them with plastic to keep the moisture in and then put the soil back before planting. Sounded good to me! So she emptied two of them. I lined them and put the soil back in three of them. She soaked the water in them. It's quite hydrophobic soil. I finished the other wooden, cedar windowboxes and planted three geraniums in each box. One large one and two smaller ones on either side of them.

The hummingbirds will be pleased. they love all the red flowers. They love all my flowers, actually.

Once they were planted, I pulled the plastic up around and covered the front and covered the back of the soil in the box to retain more of teh moisture for them! HOw perfect. Those boxes do dry out very quickly!

I took a few breaks amidst the work as I did need to rest for awhile and work on uploading videos.

At 4 we went to the dump. I brought home a double stroller and a long pair of sleepers for Tyler. We had lots of garbage and some clothes to get rid of to the reuse center.

Willem helped me move the swing from the lane to the edge of everfar labyrinth. I like sitting there where i can watch the birds. We have a few chairs to burn there, too.
