Christmas lights in the Syracue Park triggers memories

We just passed the Christmas lights in the park at Syracuse, NY. When Barb and I drove home the other day, she wanted to stop and go for a walk. Actually, she wanted to stop and get a place. I, however, wanted to drive the few more miles home.

So we stopped and went to that park. I thought we could find a place to walk, but we went for a drive into the lighted area and found we had to pay $8 to drive through it. No way. I tried to turn around and go back out the way I'd come, as there was no other exit that I could find, but it was one way travfic, so they all called out to me. I tured and he moved the gate so I coudl get out safely.

So we couldn't find a place for Barb to go for a walk. She kept at me when we were driving that I was going the wrong way. I was so tired of her nattering and all of her demands. I just wanted to be done with this journey.

We stopped later at a motel, but they didn't have wi-fi. If I were going to pay all that money instead of drivign for two more hours and being at home, at leaset I was going to make sure we had wi-fi so I could do what I wanted to do.

She never said thankyou for being able to go for a wlak. I was bending over backwards tryign to keep her happy.

Later I reali\ed that I was just enabling her. I think all of her friends are just enablers. When we arrived home she called a friend to invite her to come over to help her get 'settled in'. I interpreted that to mean, dcarry all her stuff in, light the fire for her and bring in wood for it.

I must say this whole experience has taught me a lesson. Or at least I hoep it has. I'm not sure what the lesson is, though. \It gives me bad memories to go past that park of lights, anyway. It's so odd to have memories along this road. Memories with other than my dear sweet Willem.

I think I'll just cuddle up with Willem and forget about the rest!
