Three hours to make an antler handled basket!

I have been sitting by the Rideau River, alongside the pathway in the trees, making a basket. It’s the antler, sea grass and birch bark ribbed basket. I have been at it since about 9 am. I’m not quite done. I have to do something about the end of the birch bark strips.
People have been biking alongside the river on the path. Several of them have asked me what I’m doing. I’m working on learning about the antler basketry. I don’t know too much about how to end the birch, but I think I can do twining with it. I think that would be good to do.
I’m almost done with it, though. I have my car parked on the road nearby and the kayak on top of it.
It’s been quite nice out here. It was sortof cloudy and overcast, I guess humid. There is a nice breeze now. It’s only about 26c or so.
I hear a flock of cedar waxwings again.
