Hardware store stuff

I thought since I was up and out, I'd go over to Norm's and see about stripping some of that bark off the birch logs which he'd offered to me.

On the way, I stopped at the thrift store to see if they had metal spatulas. They weren't open yet. I guess they are closed on monday and on tuesdays.

So I stopped at the hardware store where I figured I could get something and remembered I was out of lye. So I bought two big 2kg containers, as I can't stock up on soap if I don't have any lye to make it with.

I inquired about gromets. They are called Chicago something or other. They had very light aluminum ones that they wanted .69 each for. Too much.

I was standing by the screws, so I took a handful in a thick paper bag and continued along.

I found, selected and bought a good metal sharp-ended scraper.
