Hiding my first geocache box

I must say, going to the lake with other people is not as much fun as going alone with my camera! Ha ha ha.

We went to the lake and they headed out into the water for a swim after helping me put up the shelter. I stayed and put up the screen while they swam.

I prepared the geocache, which I called Treasure Island and wrote in the front of the book.

Then I took my camera and gps and kayaked across to the island.

On the island someone had made a nice wooden sign saying that they were not there but they would return and if they could use any of their stuff it was okay, but some of it belongs to children.

They had left a closed up tent with tarp behind it and two cases of empties.

Rotten pillows lay against the back of the tent. The cardboard the bottles were in had been rained on a few times but still held its shape.

My guess is that they have tried to claim crown land for the season. Good luck.

I passed beyond the site and into the woods where I came upon a hollow log. I made a spot in it for the cache box and covered the opening with some leaves and bark, but like huckle buckle beanstalk, I hid it with just a little bit showing.

I pulled out the nuvi garmin and checked our location and then saved the location so it can be put online. I don’t have the cache number for the box or for the booklet inside. I guess when I put it online I’ll get a number and I’ll go back out there and write it on the box.

I’d like to take the day and go out there to spend the day sometime. It’s so nice out there. I would like to tent out there myself.
