Across the marsh to Horseshoe Island Tipi

I left Alida's tipi and headed around it, making sure not to slide on the slope either down to the frozen pond or into the tipi.

There was a new area of frozen waterfall. I suppose it had been from the thawing the other day. It could have been from the nondescript little spring that flows out of the hillside. I want to dig that open one day so I can see it and watch it. Its rather a wet spot in the other seasons.

Anyway, the water had made a lovely ice wall where it had flowed. The regular waterfall on the other side of my hammock (see video how to relax in a hammock, or the art of relaxing in a hammock, to see the waterfall).

It was so nice to walk acros the marsh without sinking into the deep snow! Like walking on water! The sun had started rising and was illuminating the snow.

I wanted to stop and lie in the hammock in the open tipi and sunbathe. But instead I went in the winterized horshoeisland tipi and lit the fire.

My socks were frozen. I shouldn't have thawed them out because then my foot got very cold.

I never did get the fire to go independently. I eventually left.
