I saw the mail people go by to get our mail, then come back with it. I had finished finding the willows by then and had lain in the hammock for awhile. Then I uprighted the bird feeder post and realized the pile of alder branches was on my labyrinth willows.
I stood each of the twenty or so long alder branches up against the side of the tipi so the frilly tops filled in the openings above all the woven stuff. I liked the way it looked.
I lay in my hammock again and surveyed it all, feeling quite successful. I am going to take the hides down there and tie them together and then put them around the top, I do believe. Probably just to see if I can do it!
I wrote in my rite in the rain journal book and made lots of Nancy Today’s about this and that, including watching the grass blow in the wind and the way the soggy earth seeps water up through the strawlike ground cover and between my toes.
I read in my journal about the last time I’d been there, which was mid june when I’d planted some more of the willows. Those hadn’t done so well. Well, that’s not true, just the skinny tops hadn’t done well, the rest had grown some new leaves, albeit still quite small.
I also read from the Book of Mormon while I lay in my hammock. I read about all the trouble the Lord had with his vineyard of grapes. I suppose it makes sense that my vineyard will take awhile to get it to grow well, too! Grin.
