gas and the future

All this rain we’ve had all day has washed big ruts down our road today. The road is supposedly gravel; bit to me it’s all sand. And it washes away like sand, too.

I love to go out there when it’s raining hard and watch it wash gullies in the road. It’s so steep that the rainwater really does a lot of damage.

If the township is every unable to grade our road, I think we'll have a big problem getting out of our hill!

I wonder if the gas crisis will ever go so far as to make us all have to change how we get around. I wonder if there will come a time when we are all stranded at home if we don’t’ live in cities.

I wonder how bad it will all really get. We are so prosperous right now that people are still driving big gas guzzling vehicles. I don’t suppose it will hit people for a month or two, when they find that they have charged way more for gas than they usually do in a month.

But I hear the car plant in Oshawa, Ontario is closing because there is no more demand for hummers and SUV’s. People who have been putting gas in them are going to be amazed at how much they save when they change cars.

I can’t believe how prosperous our society is! It’s much more prosperous than it was even 10 or 20 years ago!

I should look into a scooter! But I don’t want willem driving one. He’s too important to me to lose in an accident!
