It really woke me up when everyone commented on my little blurb about not going out in the blizzard anymore. Gosh, I forgot that I’m a writer! I used to be pretty well published, too!
You know, writing about being out in the woods was enough to take away the urge to actually do it.
I used to love being in the Marsh Woods. It was such an interesting place. It’s full of trees growing out of tall stumps of other trees, high enough above the bog floor to survive drowning.
I don’t go in there anymore because it’s too riddled with unseen water. The ground has become even more uneven, what with the fallen trees, the washed out areas between the root mounds and the sprawling upper stream which runs through it.
I wonder what happened down at Sedge Meadow last night. I wonder how obscured things are now.
I have a drift on the kitchen roof outside our bedroom window that’s covering half the window…on an angle.
I’m curious. I'd like to wander out there and find out.
But now I think I’ll need a railing to get up out of the woodshed and onto the snow. Three stairs should do it.
I'd like to make a Nancy Today just by walking around the outside of the house.
