Now that the floor is all done enough to put the bed in there…even though I have to put the trim back on and do that last row at the closet doors, we went out to the greenhouse to bring in the mattresses.
Man, the snow between here and there! Even though I'd made a nice snowshoe pathway to the greenhosue yesterday. Good thinking ahead! We still had to sink in a bit without snow shoes.
We coujldn’t get the cloth door open much, so went in the crack and started uncovering the mattresses.
First we had to put the two twin mattresses in plastic and move them over out of the way. They were on top of the bed we needed.
That took a bit of time.
Then there were the suitcases. there must have been five or six of them on the bed. Big empty spaces attract stuff!
They all had to go onto another cascading pile. Then there were all the long chair cusions for the porch swing and the chaise lounge chairs and the rocker. Sigh.
But THEN we got down to business.
Of course a huge pillowtop queen set of matresses needs a bigger door than a crack in the deep snow.
So Willem shoveled. He’s a wonderful man. Never a complaint. I took over when he had to catch his breath.
Then it was show time! I’m so glad we put the mattresses in plastic, back in the ones they had come in, or at least the replacement ones had come in.
There was frost and ice on the plastic on the bottom of the bottom mattresses. I’m glad the mattresses were protected. No mice in them either. Whew!
It took a lot of pushing on my part and turning on Willem’s part to get them to come out of the greenhouse and through the little curvy path back to the house.
Inside he lifted my end a bit so I could scoot the plastic out of the way. Then I lifted my end so he could pull the entire plastic bag off the mattresses.
Worked like a charm. I watched the deleivery men do that when we bought them.
So they are now in the guest room. I tired to put the roller frame together but it’s not working so well. We’re missing a wheel and one of the bolts is cross threaded. Sigh.
perhaps I’ll put it on the floor. I like all the storage space under a bed, though. But for now, this will have to do!
