Is There A Bookaholic Anoynomous?

What did I do with my glorious day off yesterday and my lazy Saturday morning? I read. A lot.

"Youth in Revolt" by C.D. Payne. The first two thirds were brilliant, the last third went on and on and on and on. I still liked the book.

"Anne of Ingleside" Aww! I don't think I've ever read past "House of Dreams" before. I love Anne's children less than I loved her, but still a great book.

"Child of My Heart" by Alice McDermott. I've only read one of her other books, but both times I love the way she relates to and uses language. Her characters intrigue me. The slow unveiling of her plot fascinates me. But during reading the book, she frustrates me. Twenty four hours later I love it.

"Belles on Their Toes" Drew was recently reading "Cheaper By The Dozen", and I adopted that book for my bedtime reading a couple of weeks ago, so I read the sequel this morning. The writing style is workmanlike, but I still love those books passionately. I still parent out of them, too; Drew has progress charts just like the Galbraiths, and has forever. Dude, we are terribly unorganized. That's the only way I can make sure everything gets done.

"Horse Heaven" by Jane Smiley. I can't belive I was snobbish towards Smiley. I love her. I loved this book so much. I want to marry this book and raise horses with it. I loved that in this big book of inter-related short stories, the horses and dogs had chapters from their POV. I loved this book. Read it. Or read something else Smiley wrote. I can't wait to read her new book after finals.

"Sweet Valley High" 2 and 3. Why did Jessica hate Enid so much, and then become such a doormat for Bruce? Why did Elizabeth not simply slap the shit out of her? Questions still unanswered. Those books are like Hot. Fresh. Now. Krispy Kreme donuts.

I also went with a bunch of friends Thursday night and saw "The Producers". I'm so happy it lived up to its hype (RENT, I'm looking at you. You to, LOTR).
