A/N: Written for halfamoon. I'd like to thank the mods and everyone who's participated this year. It's been a blast seeing the outpouring of love for all these characters. :)
Beverly's early memories are all a jumble, with the disaster of the colony tied so closely to her parents' loss. Nana fought death every day back then, and lost as often as she won, her only tools the plants that grew native to the planet. Yet they survived.
The colony disbanded after their rescue. Many settled on Caldos, and Beverly knows how many of the other children became soldiers, combating their own nightmares. She too is a warrior, but she dons blue scrubs instead of armor, and as her grandmother before her, fights death in her own fashion every day.
