So I was on my Earthlink homepage and saw the awards for the MTV awards have been announced. Hayden was up for best villain, Ewan for best hero, and the fantastic duo themselves for best fight. I thought best fight was a shoe in (I mean did you see that? It was incredible. And the fact that they did their own stunts? ::shakes head in amazement::), but the other two I wasn't so sure about. Hayden's competition was Cillian Murphy for Batman Begins (amazing performance by the way) and Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort for Harry Potter (equally brilliant), plus some other people I don't remember. Ewan was up against Christian Bale for Batman Begins and that's all I remember. I was pleasantly surprised to see Hayden won for Best Villian (although I secretly admit Cillian kicked his ass in terms of acting, as did Mr. Fiennes) and Christian Bale won for Best Hero (deservedly so, he was good). So Best Fight I figure "Now here's my boys' award." I scroll down and what do my pondering eyes fall upon? Not the glorious names of Ewan and Hayden, oh no. Something far far worse.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
WHAT IN GAY HELL?!?!?! Now I've never seen this movie (Odd, considering I think Angelina Jolie is just about the hottest thing this Earth has ever seen) so maybe I'm not one to judge but COME ON PEOPLE!! Hayden and Ewan trained for 4 MONTHS to do this fight scene. They did all the stunts, not once did a stand in come in for them and you can bet your lucky stars Mr. and Mrs. Jolie had stunt doubles for over half the crap they called "fighting" in that movie! Plus, in the SW verse, this was THE fight that threw the entire galaxy into turmoil and ripped a mentorship/friendship that had been building for 13 years into shreds! That's sheer fucking drama! Not pansy ass CIA/hired hit man lets just fire our guns at eachother and occasionally reload fake fighting. This was serious hand to hand (okay, lightsaber to lightsaber, but you have to get fairly close to your enemy to do any type of damage) in your face "Yes you've been my teacher (or student) for so long we're like family but by god I'm going to do my duty and fucking KILL you if I must!" battling! ::wipes sweat off forehead:: Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees the injustice in this situation?
