Well, the big shows for the summer are done for me. From here on out it's some local gigs and the TBA gigs that will come our way later. Tarara today was great, but HOT. Nasty hot. The sun was creeping over the stage area at the end of our set and I tried to keep away from it as much as I could, but that sucker just burned me anyway - $12 sunscreen and all. Bastard sun.
Floyd Fest was just last weekend and that was great. Far enough up into the mountains to make it bearable, and I had my good floopy hat that covers my face. I highly recommend this festival for anyone who likes outdoor fun with lots of music but usually shies away from the hippy festivals because of the preponderance of underage kids stumbling around looped out of their minds at all hours and sucking on nitrous tanks until the break of dawn. Floyd was more adult - although there were plenty of kids around. I saw some people stumbling about high on who-knows-what, but they were not the norm. Lame, you say? Au contraire. Anyplace that has outdoor art like this:
is alright in my book. Would you like to see some more pictures? Yeah? Ok - they're
that's behind the main stage - and the view from where we camped. Being a performer does have some cool perks. Some others: free beer in the VIP area, free massages (alas, I did not get one) and a cool laminated performer's pass on a laniard. On a LANIARD, people! Rock! I totally have that hanging from my rearview mirror.
They also had these lovely, spider-web-like sunshades hanging up in the beer garden and by the VIP area. They don't block the sun, really, but they sure are pretty:
This was the Beer Garden area where Moossa played earlier in the day. We totally kicked ass, too. The emcee, Sho'Mama, LOVED us.
and the view from the Beer Garden:
What else? Oh - I saw DJ Williams Projekt play a little:
And the Cashmere Jungle Lords:
love the fez, dude. And, I took pictures of pretty flowers and bees:
and pretty men:
and FIRE DANCERS!!
And that was Floyd Fest. yeah. I had a good time.
