Stoooodent! Stooooodent!

So, I am officialy now a student at JMU going for my Bachelor of Individualized Studies. Whooo!

The first class was good. Informative, as a syllabus is informative and with some "break the ice" games that all corporate trainers and instructors for adult classes utilize to get everyone relaxed. I hate those stoopid stoopid games.

Beyond that, it was really a chance to meet my fellow ADP-ers, get a feel for the Blackboard program, get our first assignement and get a copy of our handbook for the program which contains all kinds of helpful information (but which the instructor mentioned some people like to burn when they have their degree - hrm).

My first assignment is reading over some Jung/Myers-Briggs stuff to determine my "type" so I can choose what "path" I want to take in getting my degree. You know what "path" I'd like to take? The quick one. The sooner I have the damn thing, the sooner I can actually get job OFFERS instead of just sending my resume out into the ether and be zapped into circular file-dom at the first glimpse of the term "non-degreed". Gah! I also have to write a 3 - 5 page (double spaced - whoo!) paper on my reactions to the Myers-Briggs classifications of myself. (reminder to myself - steal borrow post-its from work for homework)

As for class attendance - Thanks to Juliana (the TA), she should have me and Anna (who lives in Salem) set up for attending class via computer. Where Pam (the main instructor) has heart and experience and just a generally great attitude about helping us, Juliana has the technical know-how to make it flow. I think they're a good team, and I'm looking forward to working with these ladies.

So, think good thoughts for me. Think good technical thoughts so that Juliana can get the program to me (and Anna-from-Salem) before the next class meets. And think good qualifying thoughts so my work experience earns me some credits. And think good networking thoughts, so I can find the right Advisor for me and do lots of successful Independent Studies. (Please, please, don't let the Advisor be like Dr. Little, the fucktard.) And, finally, think focusing thoughts, so that I can actually finally decide on what the hell my concentration will be. Besides finding what will take the least amount of time to accomplish. I mean, I should study someting useful, at least.

I know enough that I don't know everything. But the one thing I do know, is that if I'm ever going to get ahead financially, it's going to be directly linked to this damn diploma.
