Huggers vs. Non-huggers:
I got thinking about the whole thing after spending a lot of time around different friends/acquaintances in the past 36 hours or so, and realizing I am a middle-of-the-road girl when it comes to this matter.
Don't get me wrong: hugs practically make the world go round. :) I am a hugger, a snuggler, (and someday) a smoocher. "No touchy" (The Emperor's New Groove, for those of you who can't place the odd quote) isn't a phrase that applies to me.
The thing is, I've inherited some of my father's reserved nature (just some, not a lot :)). If I know another person is NOT a hugger, or if I'm just not sure, I don't like to force hugs on people. "Here I am, I'm a hugger, HUG ME!!" See? Kind of demanding to those not so affectionately minded. One can only assume that super huggers can occasionally be very annoying to those non-huggy people.
So sometimes I don't initiate hugs (on a regular basis, with those who are not yet in the inner circle, muah ha ha ha) because I have a deeply rooted fear of repulsing a non hugger with my invasion of their personal space bubble. But I like hugs. Really, I do. Get to know me better, keep showing me that you feel the hug vibe, and before you know it, the true hugger in me leaps out from within.
I guess that's all I really have to say.
