I was inspired by
ktnb81 to write my own snow asshats story.
Okay, our little court has eight houses, four on each side. On our strip are our new neighbor Anne and her two teens, us, two twenty-something guys and a rotating girlfriend, and a vacant house. The day after the big snow, everyone was outside shoveling. Everyone except our twenty-something neighbors, whom I will call Marlboro Man (because the only time I ever see him is when he's out front smoking) and SAKS (Scary Asshole Kevin Smith, because he looks EXACTLY like Kevin Smith except that he's a jerk. He even has a long coat and stands around on the front porch smoking). Marlboro Man and SAKS left before the storm and were gone until yesterday. So their parking spaces and sidewalks and all weren't shoveled. Meanwhile, everyone else on the street is clearing out parking spaces and sidewalks and trying to clear some of the street out, since the plow hadn't been through since the middle of the storm. It was kind of a group effort out there, which makes sense since we live on a really small street and anything we do really effects everyone else. Eventually the plow came through, but only plowed a small strip down the center of the court, piling the snow up at the end.
So...the asshats came home last night. Do you think they shoveled out their parking spaces and parked there? Uh, no. They parked side by side at the end of the court, right before where the plow had piled the snow. While they aren't technically blocking anyone in because the end spaces were vacant, they are making it extremely difficult to maneuver. Also, they know we have another storm coming tonight, but they aren't making any effort to clear anything out before it comes. They are just going to leave their cars there. So what is going to happen when the plow comes through again? They either won't come, or will come and plow their cars in, which would leave the snow piled right in front of OUR cars because there will be nowhere else to put it.
I was furious when I got home from babysitting and saw the cars and saw them standing around on the front porch smoking. I want to scream at them to get their lazy asses down and shovel before the next storm rolls in and they fuck up the plowing situation for everyone else on the street. But as mad as I am, I can't wait to see Patrick lose his shit when he gets home. He is the type that would actually go over there and say something. He already went across the street to the HOA board member to ask him why the main road was clear (having been plowed several times) and ours hadn't been touched. Isn't our HOA fee money as good as theirs? So when he sees them blocking everything up out there...he's going to flip a lid and I'm just going to sit back and watch.
