Snow groaned aloud, and rubbed at his face as he smacked his now-empty glass down on the sticky table. "I'm an idiot," he griped, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand.
"What'd you do now?" Gadot asked, already looked far too amused for Snow's liking.
"I didn't do anything," Snow muttered, and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You made Serah wait for over an hour," Gadot stated, sliding his empty beer bottle aside, all the while smirking like the all-knowing jerk he was.
Dropping his hand and lifting his head, Snow could only gape at his childhood friend. "How the hell do you know that?" Snow demanded.
"She called me, asked if I'd seen you around," Gadot's smirk actually grew.
Gadot always knew how to irk Snow, but over the years, Snow just accepted it as the natural talent of his best friend whom he happened to grow up with. "I apologized like crazy already, so don't you go trying to make me feel bad," said Snow, shoving at Gadot.
While the man wasn't as tall as Snow, he was significantly more massive with the ridiculous amount of muscle he put on. So the guy only laughed, and shoved Snow back, "you're an idiot, that's all," he agreed heartily.
Snow frowned, "yeah, well..." he trailed off, and furrowed his brow. Serah was sweet about it, as she always was, saying it was okay to lose track of time and how she was glad Snow was getting along so well with the kid. Pursing his lips, Snow started rubbing at his face again, groaning inwardly.
"Knock it off," Gadot went on, and nudged at Snow's shoulder with his fist. "Serah doesn't have a mean bone her body, I doubt she'll kick you in the doghouse for making her wait."
"It's not that," Snow muttered, "she already forgave me," he cringed and shook his head. "It's before I met up with her that's confusing the hell outta me," he said. And now that Gadot actually looked perplexed, it hit Snow with a sense of satisfaction; finally something the all-knowing Gadot didn't know.
"What'd you do?" Gadot gave him a long hard look.
"Why do you always assume I did something?"
"Because you called yourself an idiot," Gadot answered. "And only idiots call themselves idiots when they do something idiotic... especially if they do something idiotic multiple times in one day."
Snow scowled, "I hate you, you know that?"
"No you don't," Gadot responded, smirking. "So, what'd you do? Stop stalling..."
Heaving a long weary sigh, Snow scratched at the back of his neck. "I'm not going out for drinks with you anymore," he muttered.
Gadot groaned loudly in exasperation, "Snow, come on man."
Shifting uncomfortably, Snow glanced around the bar. Considering the time, Snow was surprised by how noticeably quiet the place was, but it was because it was quiet that Snow decided that just telling Gadot would be okay. So he turned back towards Gadot and cleared his throat. As his best friend watched him expectantly, Snow grimaced and fidgeted. "I'm tutoring this kid..."
"Yeah, I heard... Shakespeare, right?" Gadot waved his hand carelessly.
"You know, one day you're not gonna know everything," Snow said blandly. "And I will laugh. For a very long time."
Gadot chuckled, "yeah yeah, what can I say, I tend to hear a lotta stuff," he said, shrugging. "Go on."
"He's doing great now, his interpretations of Shakespeare are awesome," Snow said, unable to resist the proud smile tugging his lips. "But, uh, anyways... the sessions'll probably end soon, and while discussing it we just started talking."
"About?" Gadot pressed.
"Anything... everything," Snow shrugged.
"Okay," Gadot frowned thoughtfully. "Such as?"
"Uh, he hates Twilight, he thinks Lestat would kick the sparkly vampires' collective ass for making vampires look bad," Snow smiled. "He was terrified of showers for a month because he watched Hitchcock's "Psycho" when he was 10... uh, his favorite subjects are science and math..."
Gadot started to shake his head, and held up his hand to interrupt, "okay, wait a minute--"
Snow nodded, "right? Who likes math?"
"No, shut up a minute," Gadot sighed, and watched Snow carefully for a moment. "So you lost track of time," he said, speaking slowly. "And made your steady girlfriend of three years wait for over an hour, because you were getting to know the kid you're tutoring?"
Snow grimaced and nodded, but gave Gadot a wounded look. "And before I left, I had to try and explain to Hope," he mumbled and started rubbing at his face again, this time with both hands. "And I didn't mention Serah at all... I didn't even say I had to meet my girlfriend, just said I had to meet someone."
