Snow glanced at the clock again, 4:32pm. Pursing his lips, he looked down at his watch just to be certain time wasn’t lying to him. No, even the watch agreed that it was 4:32pm. Heaving a long sigh, Snow slumped down into the uncomfortable wooden chair, tapping his index finger against the English textbook. Wearily, he grabbed his cell phone, and texted Serah.
“Might be late for movie. Still on for dinner?”
“Sounds great, are u still tutoring?”
“Still waiting for the kid.”
“lol, be patient”
Snow heaved another sigh as he ran his hand through his blond hair. Maybe the kid wasn’t going to show up. Some kids just found tutors to be pointless, of which Snow found a little annoying: it wasn’t like he wasn’t a busy guy. Frowning, he got up, and started to stack the books to put them in his backpack, until the door opened quietly. Surprised, Snow looked up and had to assume that was the kid he was waiting for. “Hope?” he asked.
The kid shifted uncomfortably and nodded, quietly stepping into the classroom. “Sorry, council meeting ran a little long,” he said, almost by way of apology. “Did you need me to close the door?” he then asked.
Snow blinked, and studied the kid. He was pretty small for a 10th grader, his hair was silver and he had pale green eyes. And he was watching Snow warily. Confused, Snow glanced down at himself, before realizing he was probably scaring the kid; people tended to find his height a little intimidating at first. Shrugging inwardly, Snow sat back down, “no, open’s fine,” he replied. “Should we get started?” he asked, managing a friendly grin, despite the fact the kid made him wait for over an hour.
The kid, Hope, approached the table and lowered his backpack to the floor as he took a seat across from Snow. “Sorry I’m late...” he muttered again.
Snow looked confused, and couldn’t help flashing the kid another grin. “No worries, I’ve a lot of patience,” he assured him. “So, Mr. Katzroy says you have an aversion to Shakespeare,” he stated.
“Not an aversion,” Hope shook his head, “just no patience for it.”
“Well, then I’m the guy to help you with that,” Snow said, and unable to help himself, he smiled.
