It's been warm and sunny... and I've never been happier to see that. I've been enjoying walking around and exploring downtown on my lunch hours, and opening up the windows and letting in the fresh air. This last winter seemed so long and so cold, that I'm even more excited about spring than I would normally be. In fact, I'm even looking forward to summer... to rolling down the windows in the truck, the sweet, warm night air. Weekends at the lake (because I have weekends now, you know.), fireflies, and cicadas. I'm even looking forward to the heat of it... I've never been a fan before, in fact... August has long ranked just under January and February in my list of crappy months. I'm sure I'll take it all back the first day we get over 90... let alone into the triple digits and crazed humidity levels that settle here in late summer. There is something to be said about a hot summer night though. After the sun goes down, and the sweltering aspect calms a bit, there is a true magic to it. I spent many summer nights in my youth out on a lake... by the creek, with groups of friends and family settled in large circles. Some of my fondest memories from high school are of sitting out in a dear friend's driveway on her father's tailgate... just watching the world go by. To me, summer time is adventure time, and now that Darry and I have a designated "Adventure Day" each week, I'm pretty excited to see what will happen. I mean, what is there to stop us? We are young, child-free, and there is a whole big world out there. It's a good time to be restless, to look for excitement. So bring it on spring days, and hurry up summer nights... I have plans for you.
