Jun 16, 2012 23:26

Hi there guys~

It's been a while, I know, I'm so sorry! I have no excuse...sorry! >~<

Ok, now, I became a DooYoon shiper a while ago so I decided to write a short story about them. Not a happy ending though. Most of my stories has happy endings, so I wanted to make one that weren't THAT happy, hehe, sorry :P

Enjoy~

Why can’t you love me?

Gayoon was seating alone in the center of the practice room with a blank expression. She was looking at the emptiness when Doojoon passed in front of the door and saw her…

‘Why is she here…? Alone…?’ thought the boy before enter the room. She didn’t seem to notice him.

‘Hey…’ he said when he was near enough. She turned her face and looked at him like he had taken her out of deep thoughts.

‘Hey…’ she replied half smiling at him. He sat next to her.

‘Are you ok?’ the boy asked rather worried.

She nodded looking away of him. ‘Yeah… I’ll be fine…’

‘What is it?’

The girl shook her head. ‘Nothing, I just…feel kinda lonely lately…’

Doojoon felt anxious in a second. ‘Did you fight with Jiyoonie?’ he asked knowing that that wasn’t the case. She shook her head as expected.

He remained silent for a moment and then, spoke. ‘You miss him, huh?’ She didn’t say anything for a second.

‘I guess…’ she muttered still looking at nothing in particular.

Doojoon felt hurt deep inside. He loves her but she loves someone else…

‘Well, it was his lost…’

Gayoon turned and looked with a shocked expression at her friend. It was the first time he talked like that.

‘Why are you looking at me like that?’ he asked lifting one eyebrow.

She blinked a couple of times. ‘I was just… Oppa, are you ok?’

‘Yeah, why?’ he said in normal kind of way.

She shook her head like trying to remove the thoughts she was having in that moment. ‘…Nothing, forget it…’ He nodded and looked to the front.

‘Have you tried calling him?’ suddenly the boy asked almost with a bitter tone.

‘No…’ she said with an absent expression. ‘Is highly probable that he has changed his number…’

‘Well, you don’t know that until you call him’ Doojoon said calmly.

‘Even if he hadn’t changed it, he might not want to talk to me…’

‘Again, you don’t know that…’ the boy insisted.

Gayoon furrowed her eyebrows. ‘Why do you want me to call him so bad?’

Doojoon’s face changed to a sad expression. ‘…Because I hate seeing you sad…’

The girl got surprised. ‘Oppa, you’re strange today, are you sure you’re ok?’

He shook his head. ‘Gayoonie… trust me, I’m a man, if I were him, I would be dying to talk to you again and fix everything…’ he said ignoring her question.

Gayoon was left speechless. Doojoon grabbed her hand and give it a little shake. ‘Call him… I promise I’ll be here holding your hand if anything happens…’

‘Oppa…’

Doojoon put his hand in front of him preventing her to keep talking. He almost touched her lips… ‘Call him’ he said nodding.

She looked at him for a brief moment, like finding some strength in her friend’s eyes… Finally, she sighed and turned on the screen of her phone, she searched for her ex’s name and when she was about to press the green button, she hesitated and looked at Doojoon again, he nodded slightly. She let her thump fell on the call button… The call started to get connected and Gayoon was trembling.

‘Yoboseyo?’ she heard from the other side of the line. She startled when she recognized the voice.

‘A-Annyo…’ she mumbled feeling stupid.

‘Gayoon-ah?’ the man at the end of the line asked a moment later.

‘Yeah, it’s me…’ the girl was feeling her heart beating faster by the second.

‘How are you? Wow, ages since we talk for the last time’ the voice came out cheerfully. Gayoon smiled.

‘Yeah, it’s been a while. I’m fine, how are you?’ she was starting to feel more relaxed.

‘Oppa, who are you talking to?’ Gayoon could hear an irritated female voice at the back. ‘An old friend’ he heard him saying. She felt hurt immediately… Doojoon squished her hand lightly letting her know that he was there. She looked at him and saw pure sincerity in her friend’s eyes.

‘I’m fine too’ the boy in the other side of the line said. ‘Hey, you’re famous now. I have seen you in TV lately. I often say “I know her”, hehe’

Gayoon half smile at the comment. ‘Hehe…Actually I’m not really that famous but thanks’

‘Gayoon? Is that THE Gayoon?’ the girl in the back almost yelled.  The 4minute girl knew in that moment that the annoyed girl was her ex’s new girlfriend.

‘Oppa, am I interrupting something…?’ she asked knowing the answer from beforehand.

The boy sighed. ‘Gayoon-ah…miahne…can we talk another time?’

Gayoon swallowed with difficulty. ‘Yeah, sure oppa…bye then…’

‘Bye Gayoon-ah, it was nice talking to you again’

‘Yeah…’

The girl hanged up and slowly, she put down her phone. A tear ran down her right cheek…

‘Not that good then…?’ asked Doojoon looking at her intensively. She shook her head.

‘He has a girlfriend now…’ she said under her breath.

He felt bad for her, he was the one that convinced her to make that call… Guilty rose up in his heart and a grimace had drawn in his face... Suddenly, he didn’t know what to do or say to make her feel better. Her face was all gloomy, and sorrow was witnessed in her eyes.

‘Gayoon-ah…’ he called her name softly. ‘I’m sorry to hear that… I really am…’

She remained silent looking at the floor.

‘It’s my fault…’ he said feeling the guilty talking.

Gayoon shook her head slowly. ‘Is not your fault oppa’

‘Yes, it is. I was the one that convinced you to call him…’

She glanced at him and he could saw some sympathy in that look. ‘Jiyoonie would had convinced me of the same if she were here’

Doojoon smiled a little. Somehow, his name and Jiyoon’s in the same sentence, made him feel less guilty. He knew that if Gayoon put him in the same level as Jiyoon, means he wasn’t that at fault.

‘Well, it’s been three years, right?’ he asked trying to elaborate something he was thinking. She nodded slowly.

‘Gayoon-ah, if he moved on, I think you should too…’

Gayoon move her eyes from the floor to Doojoon’s eyes. He was serious but his eyes were shining with a different light.

‘Is not that easy as saying it…’

‘I know that, but I promise to help you’

Gayoon’s eyes widened. ‘Say that again?’

Doojoon realized what he had just said. ‘I mean… I’ll be here for you if you need me…’ he said the first thing that came to his mind.

Gayoon got confused but decided to drop it. She had others things to think in that particular moment than her friend’s strange attitude.

‘I think I’ll be going home now’ the girl said standing up the floor. He stood up quickly and offered her his hand. She was taken aback but she took his hand either way. ‘Thanks’ she muttered feeling strange the skinship she was having with him. It wasn’t that she hadn’t taken his hand before or anything, but that particular gesture seemed strange in that moment.

‘I’ll walk you home. Is late for you to walk in the streets alone’ he said walking beside her to the door’s room. She nodded and picked up her things that were lying next to the door.

‘Wait for me, I’m going to pick my things from the other room’ the boy said moving quickly down the hall.

When he was back, he saw her standing in front of the elevator like a statue.

‘Did I take too long?’ he asked fixing his jacket.

‘No, it was pretty fast actually, I thought you would have take more time’

Doojoon got surprised that she had actually said more than three words.

‘Where’s your jacket?’

‘I didn’t bring any. It wasn’t my plan to stay this late’

‘Aish, this rascal’ the boy teased her. ‘Here, take mine. You’re going to catch a cold if you go out without any jacket’

‘Ani oppa, is not necessary’

‘I wasn’t asking for your opinion. You’re going to take my jacket and that’s the end of this discussion’

Gayoon giggled as she put it on the jacket.

‘WOAH! You’re giggling!’ the boy exaggerated his actions.

‘Pabo’ she hit his arm playfully. ‘Let’s go, is late’

He smiled widely and pressed the button to call the elevator. The door opened immediately.

‘Women first’ he said opening his arms beside her so she could enter. She did and then he joined her inside the elevator.

Both were quiet when they went out the building. Doojoon felt how the cold wind of the outside froze his body but he played cool so Gayoon wouldn’t notice, because, knowing her, she would have taken off the jacket and returned it to him without even asking.

‘Are you ok? Is pretty cold out here’ the girl asked looking at her friend.

‘Yeah, I’m fine, I’m not cold at all’ he lied with a smile. She nodded and continued walking.

Her dorm wasn’t really far away from Cube but he wanted to spend more time with her, so he walked her until the very entrance.

‘Thanks oppa’ she said taking off the jacket and returning it to him. He nodded and put it on. It was warm and has some of her perfume in it. He smiled unconsciously. Gayoon noticed and found it strange.

‘Why are you smiling?’

‘Huh? No, nothing, I was just thinking that is nice having these walks’ he said the first thing that occurs to him.

‘“These walks”? What is that supposed to mean?’

Doojoon laughed out loud of his stupidity. ‘Nothing, just don’t mind me’

Gayoon was too tired to try to figure him out so she simply got quiet.

‘Gayoon-ah…’ he called her name raising her head from the chin. Her sad eyes found his and to him, the world stopped…

‘I love you…’ he thought looking in to her eyes. He was finding difficult to think.

‘I’ll always be here if you need me…’ the words came out softly and full of sincerity.

‘But you don’t love me…’ the thought came out with bitterness.

‘Thank you oppa… you’ve been of big help today’ she said lifting the edge of her lips into a silent smile. ‘You’re right, I need to move on… it’s been three years since we broke up, is time to let him go…’

‘Yes…’ he said calmly on the outside. In the inside, he was burning in desire to tell her how much he love her, how much he wanted to be THE guy; that he would never let her go as her ex did, but he knew that she didn’t look at him in that way. He knew that to her, he was her friend, the one she could count on, the one that teased her just to make her smile, the one that listens to her when she is down…

‘Maybe I accept to go out with one of the idols that had called me in the past’ she said almost laughing at her words. She knew that would never happen; she didn’t like any of them…

Doojoon’s string of thoughts were cut short. ‘Say what?’ he asked a bit too loud betraying what his brain was telling him.

‘What’ she gave him cold but playful look.

‘Are you serious? Those guys?’

‘Why not? Some of them are handsome’ she teased.

Doojoon didn’t follow the game. He was seriously hurt. ‘But they’re-’

‘Hey, calm down, I was just playing around, come on, you know me’ she interrupted him.

His eyes widened as he realized his actions. He was letting his feelings went to the surface.

‘She cannot know…It will ruin everything…’

‘Oppa, you’re very strange today…’ she furrowed her eyebrows. Suddenly, a cold breeze passed through them. Gayoon shivered and hugged her arms. Doojoon repressed a desire to take her in his arms. ‘It’s cold oppa, I’m getting in’ she bid goodbye. ‘Thanks for today… you are the best’

The boy simply nodded and bid goodbye too. He observed her as she entered the building and got lost of his sight.

‘Why can’t you love me, Gayoon-ah?’ he said outloud but the wind took his words away… He turned his back at the building and with a heavy heart, he went away…
