[太陽の世界・嵐] taiyou no sekai lyrics and translation

Dec 10, 2008 23:03

this song goes specially for sabi - who is my personal "sun" here in rome ^_^ - and told me she had always wondered what they said and never really got down to translate it. well, it's a good thing we're studying keigo, sabi, cause it came up quite a few times! inagaki-sensei's classes are finally proving useful ^_^

on another note, I may have to move away from the house I'm living in. the situation is complicated, but in a few words it amounts to "my housemate is driving me mad". I starting to develop cleaning issues after leaving with a person whose room looks like the monkey's cage in the zoo TT_TT even the dog sensed there was something wrong with it and always came over to mine...
I fell like all I do is clean the house and there she goes after me making a mess of everything again. nothing stays in its place - except for the dirty dishes, which can linger in the sink for days in a row 'til they grow moldy for all she cares. seriously!
there are worse things, but I don't feel like talking about them 'cause I get morose and depressed.
so, to avoid turning into a bad copy of monica, from "friends", and preserve what little sanity I have left, I think I should move after christmas.

after this unjustified rant, here's the song:

(warning: record-breaking list of footnotes ahead)

[太陽の世界]・嵐

貪欲な若葉 is in da house yo (つまり登場)
donyokuna wakaba is in da house yo (tsumari toujou)
the greedy freshman's in da house yo (in short: appearance) (*1)

もうそろそろいいぞ
mou sorosoro iizo
it's nearly time.

clap ya handz (clap ya handz) 組んでる腕上げ
clap ya handz (clap ya handz) kunderu ude age
clap ya handz (clap ya handz) unfold your arms and throw 'em up

clap ya handz ×2

Everybody sey HO!(HO!)

の合図で皆をここからTAKE OFF(OFF)
noaizu de minna koko kara TAKE OFF (OFF)
at the signal, everybody TAKE OFF from here (OFF)

の瞬間を俺らが提供(KYO)
shifuku no shunkan wo orera ga teikyou (KYO)
we're offering you this blissful instant (KYO)

ご準備出来たら着替えて盛装(SO)
gojunbi dekitara kigaete seisou (SO)
once you're ready, go change and dress up (SO)

ありがと清聴
arigatou seichou
thank you for your attention (*2)

どけどけのけのけ邪魔ですそこのけ
doke doke noke noke jama desu soko no ke
make way, make way, shove, shove; that sign over there is an obstacle. (*3)

皆がホレボレ ただちにモテモテ
minna ga horebore tadachi ni motemote
everybody's captivated by my popularity,

近う寄れ寄れ そっちで揉めとけ
chikau yore yore socchi de mometoke
gradually moving closer, dissipating trouble.

俺の手取れ取れ 凄まじい光景
ore no te tore tore, susamajii koukei
“come on, take my hand, you're an amazing sight”

無理だよ到底 おたくにとっては冒険
muri dayo toutei, otakuni totte wa bouken
“it's absolutely impossible, for a geek like me it's risky”
(OH!??盲点)or 挑戦? そうこれしき当然(一丁アガリ)
(OH!? mouten?) or chousen? sou koreshiki touzen (iccho agari)
(OH!? loophole?) or challenge? of course, this is nothing (let's get down to it)

傾いた君の目の奥に 光溢れる
katamuita kimi no me no oku ni, hikari afureru
deep in your slanted eyes, light overflows,

がんじがらめとサヨナラして 風に乗り込む
kanjigarame to sayonara shite, kaze ni norikomu
tightly bound, you say goodbye and go off with the wind.

繰り返す毎日を抜けて 飛び出してゆく
kurikaesu mainichi wo nukete, tobidashite yuku
shaking off the everyday routine, you take flight

きっと届かない星に向けて 解き放たれる
kitto todokanai hoshi ni mukete, tokihanatareru
and surely, facing the unreachable stars, you're set free. (*4)

抑えきれない想いの風向きに 背中押され前を向いたら
osaekirenai omoi no kazamuki ni, senaka osare mae wo muitara
with your back pressed against the wind of long-suppressed thoughts, if you looked before you,

もう誰も止められない 止まることはない
mou daremo tomerarenai, tomarukoto wa nai
you'd see no-one can stop you, 'cause there's no stopping anymore.

*そして 順風満帆スタイルで
soshite junpuumanpo sutairu de
so, like a sail swollen by a favorable wind,

太陽が導いて描く 最高な世界へ
taiyou ga michibiite egaku, saikou na sekai he
the sun leads the way in this wonderful world;

上昇気流ハートで
joushoukiryuu ha-to de
with this updraft heart (*5)

真実をつかまえて 強くなれる
shinjitsu wo tsukamaete, tsuyoku nareru
get hold of the truth, attune to it,

離したくない瞬間だけ 焼き付ける様に*※
hanashitakunai shunkan dake, yakitsukeru you ni
so you can engrave it with fire, when you just don't want to let go.

切なさも優しさも全部 胸にあるから
setsunasa mo yasashisa mo zenbu, mune ni arukara
since both pain and gentleness nestle in your heart,

知らず知らずに積み重ねた時を彩る
shirazu shirazu ni tsumikasaneta toki wo irodoru
when you unconsciously start accumulating them, just paint them in color;

ため息に負けそうな時も 心潤す
tameiki ni makesouna toki mo kokoro uruosu
even the times when you're about to lose to despair, will eventually be good for you. (*6)

ずっと変わらない君が見せた 笑う横顔
zutto kawaranai kimi ga miseta, warau yokogao
you showed me your smiling profile, unchanged in all this time.

動き出した時間の片隅に 探し当てた夢の欠片と
ugokidashita jikan no katasumi ni sagashiateta yume no kakera to
together with the broken pieces of dreams found in the nooks of the already moving time,

情熱の中にある今を信じて
jounetsu no naka ni aru ima wo shinjite
start no to believe in what lies in enthusiasm.

そして追い風スタイルで
soshite oikaze sutairu de
so, like a favorable wind

想像を塗り替えて続く 最高な世界へ
souzou wo nurikaete tsuzuku, saikou na sekai he
I continue repainting imagination, in this wonderful world;

上昇気流ハートで
joushoukiryuu ha-to de
with this updraft heart

全身を貫いて 熱くなれる
zenshin wo tsuranuite atsukunareru
you pierce my whole body, making it warm;

一度しかない感覚さえ 終わらない様に
ichido shika nai kankaku sae, owaranai you ni
I need only feel it once to make sure it does never end.

ちょいもとい もうお任せご想像に
choimotoi mou omakase gosouzou ni
somewhat, as usual, already left it to almighty imagination.

しきりにしみじみ意識し生き生き そしたら元通り
shikiri ni shimijimi ishikishi iki iki, soshitara motodoori
often painfully aware of being alive, as it used to be.

俺 風来坊
ore, fuuraibou
I'm a wanderer.

迂回路 時に近いよ
ukairo toki ni chikaiyo
it was close in the detour

YO-HO! 向こうの方へと
YO-HO! mukou no hou he to
YO-HO! beyond and

頂上方向へ俺と
choujou houkou he ore to
to the summit, with me.

(*repeat)

(*1): [若葉] “wakaba” means “fresh verdure” or “new leaves” - since I doubt he's talking about nature, I assumed he meant “rookie”, “newbie”, etc. as always, sakurap is full of suggestive words tremendously difficult to translate accurately.

(*2): [ありがとう清聴] “arigatou seichou” is used formally when giving thanks “for someone's attention”, as I've translated. the song is full of formal words of respect, including the verse above this with [ご準備] “go-junbi” (“go-” is added before two-kanji words to make them respectful).

(*3): I have looked up several [け] “ke” in the dictionary in search for a kanji that fit. the closest I found was [卦], which stands for “symbol”, “sign” in the sense of “omen”. this song will have a lot of footnotes I'm afraid...

(*4): I was hesitant for a while on how to translate this. [解き放たれる] “tokihanatareru” comes from [解き放つ] “tokihanatsu”, meaning “let loose”, “set free”. the problem is this particular conjugation is the same for passive and “sonkeigo” (a form of respect). seeing that formal japanese is used frequently in the song I considered translating it as such. but finally decided against it, since it's mostly limited to sakurap and not the rest of the song. so, passive it is.

(*5): [上昇気流] “joushoukiryuu” is “upwards current” - for water or wind. I guess it's used as part of all the “wind-related” vocab they use in the song. I could think of no ulterior meaning though, so my apologies for the awkwardness.

(*6): ok, this is just me being stupid, but, have you noticed that is jun's kanji? [潤す] “uruosu” means “to moisten”, “to enrich”, “to benefit”. ^_^ that's what his name means!
